Jorge Diego Etienne, a designer based out of Monterrey, Mexico, has recently released Versus, a collection of sculptural objects for the home.
Though it is presented within the context of an everyday consumer product, Versus explores the ability to provoke emotional reactions through a striking aesthetic. Using marble and wood, artisans hand sculpt each material into new forms, and then pair it up with CNC-transformed aluminum. In the end, each object consists of elements reduced to simple, geometric shapes.
The collection is meant to reflect the relationship between viewer and object— the tactile, physical experience as well as the emotional connection. Through colors and elevated materials, Versus creates a visual richness through an opposition of those materials.
